ho finito la brioche!

un po' in ritardo qui tempi, ma il mio scaldacollo a punto brioche è finito!!
è reversibile, è fatto col punto brioche e la lana è tinta col caffè....al momento di trovargli un nome, l'ho ovviamente ribattezzato double cappuccino! :-P

a bit late,I finished my cowl with the brioche sitch!! 
It's reversible, done using the brioche stitch, and the wool was dyed with coffe... so i decided to call it "double cappuccino"! :-P

sono abbastanza soddisfatta del lavoro, lavorare coi circolari è stato molto più facile che fare il campione in piano, e dopo un po' di ho preso la mano... mi piace lavorare senza dover sempre guardare lo schema!
unica pecca la giunzione dei giri, devo aver sbagliato qualcosa perchè a un certo punto avevo una costina in più :( ho provato a cercare come fare, ma non ho trovato soluzione. A dire il vero nell'insieme non si nota, ma avrei preferito che il mio lavoro fosse perfetto, ovviamente!

I'm pretty pleased with the work, working with circular needles was much easier then with with traditional ones, and after a while I got used to the stitch and started working faster ... I like to work without having to look at the pattern!
My only defect was the junction of laps, I must have done something wrong because at one point I had a rib more : ( I tried to find out how, but I didn't find a solution . Actually it doesn't show up, but I would have preferred that my work was perfect, of course!

Diciamo che come lana è molto rustica ma piacevole da lavorare, anche perchè essendo molto ricca di lanolina lascia le mani morbidissime! Ad essere sincera se il lavoro non fosse andato a una mostra, ma fosse stato da indossare, non avrei mai fatto uno scaldacollo, perchè pur essendo caldissimo, pizzica un po'. 

E' stata comunque una bella esperienza, mi sono divertita a tingere ed è stata l'occasione per imparare finalmente il punto brioche!!

The Corniglio wool is very rustic but pleasant to work with, also because it is very rich inlanolin and leaves the hands very soft! To be honest, if the work had not gone to a show, but was intended to be worn, I'd never make a scarf, becauseit pinchs a bit even if it's very warm.
Anyway it was a nice experience, I enjoyed dyeing and was an opportunity to finally learn the brioche stitch!

... ma mi ero fissata che il manufatto con la lana di pecora cornigliese di questo post volevo farlo a punto brioche. il pattern che ho scelto è del sito the purl bee ed è semplicissimo, ma essendo al mio primo tentativo non volevo fare cose troppo complicate e poi rischiare di non finire!

I prefer baked brioche, but I decided to make my work with corniglio wool using the brioche stitch.
I choose an easy pattern, found on the purl bee, because this is my first attempt and I didn't want to surrender!

ho voluto provare prima con un campione, ma lavorare a due colori con i ferri normali è un'impresa!   e infatti il primo tentativo è fallito miseramente :(  molto più facile coi circolari :)
I first tryed a gauge with "normal" needles, but it's really hard working with two colors!  and in fact the first attempt failed miserably :( with circular needles it's easier :)

altra impresa è stata scegliere quali istruzioni seguire, ci sono tante diverse interpretazioni del punto brioche, anche se alla fine il risultato è uguale, io cercavo qualcosa di semplice (e magari in italiano, che con i termini, e soprattutto le abbreviazioni in inglese spesso faccio casino!)
questo post l'ho trovato illuminante!! ma ho dato un'occhiata anche qui e qui giusto per essere sicura :P

Thera are many variations of the brioches stitch, even if the result is the same, I looked for the easiest instructions.I found this post very useful, and I had a look even here and  here

Alla fine mi sono decisa, e ho avviato 124 maglie su ferri 5.5, per poi passare ai 5 per lavorare il brioche stitch. Adesso che ho fatto qualche riga, direi che sto andando nella direzione giusta! :)
At the end, I casted on 124 stitches using 5.5 mm needles for the border,and 5 mm needles for the brioche. after a few rows, I think that's the right direction! :)

A presto foto del lavoro finito, e poi brioche solo al forno! :-P

grazie a un post visto su maglia libera tutti ho letto di questa bellissima iniziativa, mi sono iscritta al gruppo su fb, e ho richiesto la lana, che è arrivata nel giro di pochi giorni.

E' una sensazione bellissima avere tra le mani una lana così grezza, e per la prima volta mi sono lanciata nel lavaggio e tintura col caffè..speriamo bene!
It's a really good feeling handling such a raw wool, and for the first time I'll try to wash and to dye it with coffe... I really hope it'll work!


come mia abitudine prima ho "studiato", facendo diverse ricerche in internet, e un sacco di domande a chi aveva ricevuto la lana prima di me.
I had a search on the web, and asked many questions to peopole who received the wool before me.


Benedetta mi ha suggerito di lavarla prima con detersivo per i piatti e poi con un pochino di balsamo, e di rifare il lavaggio con più balsamo dopo la tintura.
Benedetta suggested to wash the wool with dish soap and then with a little conditioner. Once dyed, rewash with more conditioner.

ho ricevuto 3 matassine, e ho deciso di lasciarne una grezza, una completamente tinta col caffè e l'ultima vorrei provare a legarla stretta stretta in alcuni punti per avere delle sfumature...
per ora ho una matassa a bagno nel balsamo
I got 3 skeins, and i decide to dye one entirely and another only in part, in order to have different nuances..
this  skein is in the conditioner:

e una in acqua e aceto 4:1.quest'ultima la metterò a bollire col caffè, tenendo sempre le dita incrociate!!!!

And this one is in waterand vinegar 4:1. This one will be boiled with coffeee.... and I'll keep the finger crossed!!
